The installation “Zero & Not” was realized by American conceptual artist Joseph Kosuth in 1989, on the 50th anniversary of Sigmund Freud’s death. It marked the beginning of the Sigmund Freud Museum Contemporary Art Collection, which Kosuth had a significant hand in building. The collection now features the work of outstanding international artists.
25 years later – on the 75th anniversary of Freud’s death – the 21er Haus is developing an exhibition in collaboration with Joseph Kosuth. Based on “Zero & Not,” the exhibition presents a series of other Freud-related artworks by the artist in addition to other works from the Sigmund Freud Museum Contemporary Art Collection and a selection from the collection at Belvedere.
